Freaky Tiki is a U.S. Coast Guard-inspected small passenger vessel operating under a Certificate of Inspection (COI) that authorizes it to carry private groups of up to 22 passengers. The COI records vessel-specific operating conditions, including the permitted route, passenger capacity, and minimum crew. The U.S. Coast Guard advises customers booking charter boats for more than six people to ask to see a Coast Guard-issued COI. Freaky Tiki’s inspected passenger-vessel status is what allows the boat to serve a private group of up to 22 as a commercial charter operation.
Freaky Tiki is Coast Guard inspected and certified to carry up to 22 passengers. That differs from an uninspected ‘six-pack’ charter, which is generally limited to six paying passengers. A bareboat charter is different again: the renter takes responsibility for the boat and selects the crew. The giant floating mat is a favorite place to hang out with friends, and the swim ladder makes it easy to get back aboard. Guests who prefer to stay dry can enjoy the music and views from the boat. Water stops depend on weather, tides, marine traffic, charter length and the captain’s safety judgment.

At least one guest age 18 or older must be aboard. Alcohol is allowed only when at least one guest age 21 or older is aboard, and only guests age 21 or older may drink. The person who booked the charter should bring a valid photo ID.
Guests may bring any food they want; there are no restrictions on food. The boat has no way to prepare, cook, or heat food, so ready-to-eat choices such as snacks and sandwiches are usually recommended. The boat has two large coolers filled with ice. Guests may bring catering trays, cakes, and any ready-to-serve food, and food may be delivered to the boat before departure when coordinated with the crew. The boat cannot prepare, cook, or heat food and does not provide cups, plates, utensils, napkins, bottled water, or mixers.
Illegal items and illegal drugs are prohibited. Marijuana and cannabis are not allowed aboard Freaky Tiki, regardless of what a guest may legally do away from the boat. Properly used prescription medication is allowed; guests are responsible for bringing their own medication.
Firearms, knives, and other weapons may never be openly carried, displayed, brandished, handled, or visible aboard Freaky Tiki. A lawfully carried concealed weapon must remain completely concealed at all times. The captain may refuse any item or behavior considered unsafe, and guests with an exact weapons question should contact the crew before boarding.
Fireworks, sparklers, explosives, hookahs, grills, candles, and every other open flame are prohibited aboard the boat.
Red wine and glass bottles are allowed, but guests should use plastic wine glasses, sturdy cups, or other thick drinkware. Thin-walled and fragile wine glasses should stay ashore.
The onboard bathroom is fully private and toilet paper is provided. The boat toilet is for pee only. We recommend taking care of anything more substantial at home or using the public restroom at the pickup area before departure.
Towels are not provided. The boat has dry areas for wallets, phones, and bags. USB charging outlets are usually available but are not guaranteed to be working, and there are no standard 110-volt household wall outlets.
The boat has a powerful Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth sound system with a 12-inch subwoofer and party lights. Guests can connect a phone by Bluetooth. The boat does not provide a TV, microphone, or karaoke equipment.
Swimming is optional, and guests may remain aboard for the entire charter. The Fort Lauderdale Sandbar is often shallow, but tides can change the depth from roughly six inches to four or five feet. Guests do not need to swim to enjoy the charter, footwear is optional, and Type I safety PFDs are available; anyone who wants a more comfortable swimming life jacket should bring their own. Nearly all trips can visit the sandbar, but severe weather, lightning, unsafe water conditions, or the captain’s judgment may prevent a stop.
Guests may decorate after the boat and their group arrive, but the boat is guaranteed only for the booked time slot. Secure balloons and banners are welcome. Glitter, confetti, and real or plastic flower petals are prohibited because they can become litter. Professional DJs, bartenders, and other vendors are welcome with advance coordination, and every vendor counts toward the maximum of 22 people aboard.
The usual Fort Lauderdale route is generally calm and protected, but no boat trip can guarantee that a guest will not feel seasick. Guests with a medical condition should bring their own medication and consult their doctor before boating when appropriate.
Babies and children of every age are welcome, and each child or infant counts toward the maximum of 22 people aboard. Families bringing an infant should bring a properly fitted specialty infant life jacket.
As a commercial passenger vessel, Freaky Tiki provides Type I child personal flotation devices. Tell the crew the number of children in advance so the required number can be prepared. These safety PFDs are not designed for comfortable recreational swimming, so families should bring properly fitted swimming life jackets for children who plan to swim.
The boat is not wheelchair-accessible. The crew has helped guests with disabilities board in the past, but assistance depends on each guest’s needs and the dock and boat conditions. Contact the crew before booking so they can discuss what assistance may be possible.
Service animals are allowed aboard. Other pets are considered case by case and must be approved by the crew before the trip.
Pregnant guests frequently join Freaky Tiki Boat Charters trips. Guests should consult their doctor, consider their individual health and the day’s boating conditions, and make the choice that is safest for them.
